The only thing I like about the early dash is it's great for a center channel speaker or to mount an LCD.

But Rob does absolutly beautiful work. I just got one of his shift boots and the work is flawless.

ROB:

Any thoughts on making a late model kit? It would have to include filling & smoothing the dash cracks, though.

I would love to have a space for a monitor- I am going to have a center channel below the deck, so that space is gone. I'd rather be able to listen to 5.1 dvd-a and sacd with my new sony head unit: http://www.xplodsony.com/video/av_centers/MEX-DV2000 (that isn't out yet).

I'll have to figure that out on my own.

He does late model cars already. Check his web site and Gregeast's pictures. in the first page. Pictures do not do Rob's work justice.

Rob, what do those run in leather?

Also, how about some leather door panels?

You can PM me or email me if you'd rather not reply on the forum.

He's already done alcantra door panels for guns951, so I would assume he could do leather ones as well. Have you even looked at the stuff on his site? It usually tells you stuff like that.

I looked at the gallery (thats where I saw the door panels, but none in leather) but no prices, guess I need to check out the rest of the site.

I bet, with some work, you could install a LCD screen in the early cars by using the space for the radio and the heater controls...

It would have to be the heater controls, but I don't know if I'd be willing to give them up. Where I live, even though its socal and only 20mi from the coast, 40 mi north of san diego(http://maps.google.com/maps?f=q&hl=e...8&t=h&z=9&om=1 ), we still have winter mornings where we wake up with ice on the windshield and its about 20 degrees. For now I'll settle with the center channel under the head unit, and maybe I could put an lcd in the glove cpmnt or something.

Wow... I think I see a leather dash, leather armrest, leather center console and leather door panels in my future. That would restore that Porsche smell that was lost when I recovered my seats in vinyl.

How amazing would that be?

Have him fly out to you to do the work and then when he's done there can make the quick hop to my place

jts - is there actually a speaker in the middle or just the grille? It wouldn't be hard to install a third speaker in that space.

And yes, under where the speaker goes is one of the bolt-on points for the dash to the car.
There's more than a slight groove, especially around where the dash meets the door panels... It matches the groove in the door panels... I think if this were not present it might look funny...
