Rear seat same for 944 and 924??
I'm looking to replace the rear seat (top and bottom) of my 1988 924s and wondered if the parts are also interchangeable with a 944. I saw a decent match on eBay from a 1986 944 turbo but with the shipping I want to make sure it will fit before I spend the $$. Anyone know if it will fit?

The upper and lower seat set I'm looking at on eBay is black. I haven't seen the fabric that came with the car (gray with burgundy stripes) anywhere so I'm thinking I'll have to settle for a solid color either black or burgundy. What do you want for them and could you send pictures?

Can I ask a dumb new user question? I joined Rennlist (paid my membership fee) last week but can't tell that my account is recognized yet as being a paid member. Any clue what I could/should do to update my profile?

- it takes alittle while for the membership to show up sometimes
there are a few different latch types through the years. Some have the pin directly mounted to the body, others have a braket that the latch pin goes into. I think the early cars had something different also.

Nothing to add, just wanted to say, "Welcome to Rennlist!"
... and post pics of your car when you get a chance - you know you want to
I'm guessin you have a dog or something that tore up the rear seats? I can't imagine they got worn out from actual use...
Last time I had a adult volunteer to sit in the rear seat of my old 924, she looked in the back, said, "There's no way my *** will fit in that seat," and switched with the other passenger/

PM john d or jenn, or post in the rennlist help section. They'll fix your memberhsip status for you.
So the moral of the story is, the back seats are useless, unless your woman friend(s) have small behinds?

Actually I don't have a dog but over the years (I've had the car for 10 years) the fabric has decayed and the foam is showing through on the top of the top half of the seat...basically the seat is pretty ugly and I'd like to make it look better.
Both of my kids traveled in that back seat for a number of years when they were small enough to fit (I have the food stains to prove it)...and they love to tell the stories about riding in mom's fast car and what it was like getting stopped by the police (once, really only once)! Now my 16 year old wants to drive it (she can't even successfully drive an automatic yet) and my 14 year old says it will be his when he gets his license. Yeah...right!
My car is with my mechanic getting new koni's, motor mounts, oil cooler seals, exhaust, and normal maintenance and I haven't had a chance to take new pictures since I had it painted last year so I'll post some when I get it out of the shop.
Thank you all for the help and welcome!!

The top of the seat is held in by two nuts & bolts by where it pivots.
The bottom of the seat is held in by glue that comes up easily, and the bolts that the seatbelt goes into.
After you take the four seatbelt bolts out you have to go to the hatch under the carpet and get rid of about eight metal clips. slide them off and get the top fabric off.
Installation is the reverse. If the interior/headliner is black you have nothing to worry about as far as matching goes. My guess is a set of nice used leather seats will go in the front real soon as well.

Though your daughter should learn to drive a manual on a car with a much less expensive clutch

Mine decayed on the 84 just like you're talking about. I just took off the top 2/1 of the seat. IT really doesn't look that bad without it. I'm eventually just going to pull the bottom 1/2 and just lay carpet in there.
The top 1/2 on the early 944 has a peg on each side of the top that's held on by 2 or 3 screws if you needed to know.

I want to do both the top and bottom at the same time because the bottom half has the gray fabric with the burgundy stripes and I think it would just look too odd to match that with a solid color top...so, I'll see how it goes. Thanks to you, xsboost90 and Tom R on the installation information!!!
