Ha! when I was 14, I bought a '72 f-100 for $800 from a friend of the family. I had it running at 16 with a 390 bigblock. By the time I crashed it at 18, It was running mid 11s in the quarter and was In perfect shape. 9" rearend, c-6 auto trans, tubbed rear, 33" MT slicks and skinnies, and a full cage I welded in myself (with some help).

The piont is; it was fun but I caught the handling bug. I personally wont have another car designed to run fast in a straight line. After the f-100 I had an 87 mustang gt, a 92 camaro rs with a 305 tbi. and a few other that arntworth mentioning.

*edit* LOL I just realized I went way OT on this one. God, I need to keep my tangents to a minimum. LOL *edit*

If you chip that 944S youll smoke a WRX and be able to hang with an S2000. As for reliability, new awd cars are expensive, as well as turbocharged to maintain. 944s are cheap, and they get great gas mileage.

eh...MAYBE, s2000's and wrx's are not slow, and they will sure as hell last many more launches than my 944 lol

Need something that'll be easier to crash, get more speeding tickets and have higher insurance rates in?

umm...catfood? Smoke a WRX, a S with a chip? No. Maybe the 2.5rs, but the 2.5 turbo? Not really a race. They run 5.5 0-60 stock. A Turbo S vs. a WRX would be a good race.

I don't even think my S2 will hang with a WRX, haven't tryed it though. I know from about a 60 roll, a Evo 8 with turbo back will pull about 2-3 lengths on my car to about 100. Then I was in 3rd at 80, evo in 4th at 80...I pulled away on that one. I guess he thought we were doing a 4th gear pull. lol

To topic though. Why such a huge varation in what you want? The WRX isn't that nice of an AWD car. The STi is much better, but lot more money. I'd skip the WRX and get an Evo, if you really want AWD turbo. I have a friend that owned a 315hp WRX with teins and adjustable sways and he says the evo is easier to drive and feels more planted, and faster then the WRX on 19lbs of boost.

When I was 17, I had a 66 Corvair and then a Volvo wagon (man I miss this car).

Heck at 17 I had an 81 Monte Carlo with a 267 V8. Not fast, but a very nice car.

Ah, the prom I went with one date, and left with another.

...So you'll be getting what -- $4k MAX for your n/a 944...and then dropping $20k at least on an S2k or WRX?

Dude you've gotta sort out your priorities. Back when i was your age everybody male teen had those cars if they could afford it. Do you really want to blend in that much? No offense intended, sir, but as far as i'm concerned a WRX/S2k is the default choice when you don't want to bother figuring out which car to truly get.

Now, I've driven a WRX, Sti, and S2k on both street and track, and each one is a truly magnificent car in their own rights. But as has been stated before: "Anyone can own a Subaru."

Good luck to you tho

89 or 90 not too sure.

But whatever this guy does is his biz. If speed, high insurence, and a chance to impress his friends is what he wants than so be it. Just so happens I love my Porsches for what they are.

Basically, here is what I see.

Spoiled rich kid whose mommy and daddy will buy him whatever his friends mandate he have.

And you want a car that has good launches? You, my friend, are still looking the wrong place. Go 60's muscle car for that. I'm sure daddy will not touch your inheritance money for one of those either...

Also, your age driving an S2k? Well, I guess it won't be you paying the insurance either....

Im wondering why this guy even started a post like this here. He had to know he was going to get pelted with insults and criticism. I hope someone will buy his car that actually wants to own a piece of Porsche history and not some mass produced Rice Rocket. Because 99.9 % of teenage kids love Rice .
