Default Cone Air Filter Question

Ok, so I have a k&n cone air fito put on my 84 n/a. After listening to the back and forth arguements on temperature, I decided that I might as well move it to a cooler location. Would the optimal location be inbetween the headlight and coolant tank, or through the hole that the stock air box snorkle went through, where it would actually be inside the fender. I'm guessing you would use intercooler piping to connect it, correct?

route it under the header panel. It will draw air from in front of the radiator.

It's an early car, so the pannel doesn't come off making that not feasible. I like the setup you had on your S.

it's not that it doesn't come off.... you just have to convince it.

It looks like convincing would require a little more cutting than I'm up for. So if not under the header pannel, which of the other two locations listed earlier is better?

I had mine run through the fender wall (through stock hole) with 91 Acura Integra Intake tubing. I never dyno'd it, so I don't know if I got any gains or not. Anyway, the reason I no longer have it there is that it really got pounded with debris and in the one rain storm we had in LA this winter, it was getting drowned. Fearing hydrolock and general filter deterioration from all of the debris in the wheelwell (the mushroom filter foam was getting chewed), I went stock box. My .02.

I went with the stock K&N filter because it seemed like the best choice, for me.
I would probably route the cone shaped filter where the stock tube went.

Remove your drivers headlight and put a big cone right there where the bucket use'd to be. Works great. Fresh wind!!!
