Default power seat woes... anyone got any good motors?

I was trying to manually move the seat foward, and something in my mind thought "Hmmmm, what if I make this go faster?" so, i tried... I put the 6mm allen in the drill... the gear stripped. completely. leaves me feeling like a MORON...

so, I need to buy a new set of $eat motor$... with good gears...

and I need to know how to move the seat foward so I can remove it... it's completely stuck where it is now... can anyone help?

well, if you're willing to part with them, I'll take the driver's side slider assembly w/ motors, depending on price.

If you raise the seat up all the way can you get clearance for some allen keys? One thing I ended up doing was using a 6mm hex drill bit key and a 1/4" ratcheting wrench. It took a while, but it got them all out and its rather small.

Wait, just to clarify, you were too impatient to hold the button down while the seat moved forward, so you got out of the car, got the correct bit for the power drill, and then tried to power it forward when you could have been done with it for 30sec?

I know us porsche owners are crazy, but...

My parts car had stripped seat gears as well, I had to pull the cables out and chuck them into a drill to move the seat. Trouble was, I had clearance problems, I think I ended up using a 90 degree drill adapter. Also you have to spin both cables at the same time (in opposite directions) or spin one to move one side of the seat a short distance and then spin the other. Otherwise the seat twists and jams.

It takes a while. I used a low speed cordless drill BTW.

No, power seats were dead. there was a short in the switch (which I fixed). I was manually moving them foward with the 6mm allen key in the front of the seat. got impatient with a mm per turn of the wrench so I hooked up the drill.

as for now, the seats are working beautifully, but the manual movement gears are what I stripped.

That's what I did to move it forward enough to get to the rear bolts. I realized after fixing it, that I didn't need the gears for power movement, so it's not as urgent.
