Default subwoofer in spare tire well *pics*

Hi,

So many subwoofer threads going around these days. Here is my version, cut out spare tire mounts, spray spare tire well with rubberized underbody paint, cover with aluminum paper, make fiber glass box and screw 3/4 inch mdf to top. Use bondo to seal any holes and voila! Sub is a 1230 infinity 300w at 4 ohms with 6000 infinity cs components at the rear (6.5 inch mids plus tweeters through independant crossovers) and infinity plate speakers up front (4 inch mids I beleive and tweeters). I can't possibly forsee the need for more bass.

Looks good. Any pictures of the sub installed? I didn't think a 12" would fit.

Did you need to calculate the volume?

Why did you fibreglass it? Isn't it already enclosed?

This is where you hope that the "fix-a-flat" spraycans the Boxsters come with really works.

the 12 inch sub fits realllllly tight. Reccomended volume is 1.25 cubic feet so I have a bit more, but it leaves me space to upgrade with a second 12 inch. In any case, it sounds awesome! I fiberglassed it because I want to be able to swap out the whole setup for track days or if I sell the car for another. Also I didn't want to drill any holes into the body. The box also reduces the volume of the spare tire well for the sub.
