Just curious to see what brand / SAE oil everyone uses or recommends...

 

I use either:

Royal Purple
Castrol GTX
Mobil 1
Elf
Lucas

All are good brand names that I trust and have used every single one for different applications and havge used all in my 944 depending on season and amount of use. Right now I am using a combo of Castrol GTX and Lucas.

Summer I will use Royal Purple with Lucas.

::EDIT:: 10W40 Winter and in the Summer I use 20W50

shell rotella synthetic t 5w40 it is a diesel oil, but works gret for me.

This topic is posted about once a month. If you care to find out WHY people are running diesel truck oil, do a search. I use the same as Hacker-Pschorr in both the S2 and the STi.

 

I'm running oil from Lubrication Engineers.
Last year I used 50 (singlegrade).
This year I'm running 15w-40 as the car will see minimal track duty.

I personally think there's way too much angst over which brand. All the big name symthetics are great oils.

My engine builder (fellow 928 guy) only runs LE oil in his cars. He doesn't like synthetic.

 

Shell Rotella T synthetic 5W-40 at present. Just bought M1 5W-40 Truck & Suv synthetic, which is on Porsche's approved oil list. Got it at Wal-mart for $13.00 for 5 quart jug > I think it was mis-marked or they were closing it out. I need to talk the manager into ordering more : )

I have been using castrol 5w50 syntec in the 924.

 

I used Castrol 10W60, then Mobil 1 5W50. Now Valvoline VR1 10W60 semi synth.
