Exclamation Shout Out for NorCal 968/944 owners

I need help big time. I have broken my screwdrivers trying to get the grease cap off my front wheels and I give up. If there is anyone with experince working on wheel bearings who can come up and help me I would greatly appriciate it. Afterwards I could treat to dinner at one of the many resturants in Vacaville.

Something does not sound right, the grease caps should not be on that tight. I use a large standard blade screwdriver angle the handle towards the rotor and strike the handle with a rubber mallet. A couple of love taps, rotate the rotor 90 degrees and repeat, rotate another 90 deg. and continue... It will not take much effort to remove them. Hope this helps.

Sigh. I'll try again with my bent screwdriver using your method after lunch.

I use a large pair of channel-locks usually, adjusted out to it's widest range and positioned at 0 and 180 deg. Mine are usually a tight fit so it only comes out when you creap it back and forth - a tedious process with a screwdriver but once it is 1/4 inch out from flush, it comes out easy.

No luck. Couldn't get it off and basicly wasted a lot of time. Once again, is there anyone near by willing to make a visit to Vacaville and giving me a hand?

Why should it be that tight? Channel locks have ALWAYS workd for me on any car that has bearing caps like that.
