Default questions before purchasing main bearings

Im at the point where i need to buy main and rod bearings, along with new piston rings (engine had 200k on it before tear down)

I noticed that most places sell standard and over sized bearings.

Im not sure on what i need to get.

should i wait until i get my crank back from the machine shop so they can tell me what i need? all they are doing is a polishing on it, so no major work of any kind.

Im planning on ordering the stuff from 944online asap

Pelican has decent prices on their parts, I ordered all mine from them.

You will need the standard size rings.

It should not require oversized bearings but talk to the machine shop and have them measure the journals and make sure they are in spec.

Right, in fact, if you need oversized bearings, then you are better off replacing the crank. I just checked main bearing clearances today with plastigauge -- can post pics if helful.

They shouldnt have pulled very much metal off in a polish - but I would still hold back on ordering parts until the crank gets back and you can get the measurements from the machine shop - that way you will know what size bearings to get.
