what is an estimate that such damage to the rear quarter panel would cost? and what is the proper method to fixing it?

wide body kit... or tap the dent lightly from the inside of the fender with a rubber mallet

I had something like that on mine. Only it was in front of the wheel. A local body shop, and they are one of the best in the state, wanted 700ish to fix it. And that included doing paint touch ups on several other spots on the car. So that might give you a good guess.

a wide body kit on a 944??

that would be strange, the 944 already has big fender flares.

if it was my car i would replace the QTR. it looks (in the photo which is not that good ) like the damage starts about 6 inches back from the door and goes to the tail lamp. if its a nice car very clean and low miles replace , if the car is in not so good of shape then mud it up with body filler . it would cost about 6000.00 dollars to replace . mud job (hack and wack) about 3000.00 dolars .

I agree the pic is too far away to get an accurate idea of the extent of damage. It still looks relatively minor. A good bodyman should be able to get that very close to original with little filler.

Any more pictures?

mike b you must be a claims rep. ? relatively minor ? a good body man should be able to get that VERY CLOSE TO ORIGINAL WITH LITTLE FILLER ??????? the 30 years i have in the business no customer ever told me thay would be happy with that ! when the qtr would need a skim coat of filler from door gap to gas door to tail lamp down to the lower spoiler . i also never call that relatively minor . the outer wheel house is rolled out and the body line is pushed in from what i can see repair time 12 hours EZ . its only 17 hours book time to replace and then there is no filler at all . all the parts would still need to be R&Ied on the door , qtr , and rear body panel for the refinishing . by doing a repair on the qtr you would only save some of the jam time and cost of the qtr.

Either go for the kit or just get a new quarter panel like David suggested.

That car is on Ebay. The header panel is twisted too. Looks like a front end collision at some point. Fog light is busted. Look at the lines on the right side...

Unless you do body work, I'd stay away.

No Dave..I'm not a claims rep., but thanks for asking. I'm also not advocating spending $6K on fixing a car worth a little more than that....Are you suggesting a complete quarter repair be done based on that photo?

Would you spend $6K on it?

By the way, welcome to Rennlist.
