Yeah, I put some in about 2 weeks ago. It's definitely been an improvement over the non-synthetic no-name brand that was in there for about 4 weeks in a pinch (car was way low when I got it). My mechanic did say something about GL-5 being too slick for the syncros, as well.

But with the amsoil 80/90, so far so good.

A good friend of mine swears by their products and runs them in all his engines/trans in all his vehicles. I'm tempted to try it but the whole 'synthetic after years of dino causing leaks' thing is holding me back.

My mechanic is a dealer. It is actually really cheap, even compared to dino stuff, if you get it from the right place.

I tried Redline, Swepco, and Mobil 1. I would rate them in that order and redline is the best overall especially in smooth shifting. I think their formulation works with the friction material in the synchros better than the other oil thus the result.

Went with the Redline MT-90 Synthetic Gear Oil. Took about 2 2/3 quarts.

Legoland951, to which Redline gear oil are you referring? Does either the Redline or Swepco gear oil require a friction modifier when used with a LSD?

I use their 75/90 and MT90 but you do have to specify whether its LSD or not as they do have an additive for their LSD oils. Its been a while since I had to buy more because I spent about $500 a few years ago and bought 4 cases (48 qts). I tried Swepco and did not have it in a LSD tranny so I don't know about their oil compatibility with LSD. I tried Mobil 1 a couple times and hated it.
