Default 944 Manual Rack Vs 924 manual rack

Can anyone tell me if they are the same or different?
I have a 931 and was going to put that rack on my 951, but found I had to pull the steering shaft, to make it work. (because the gear box is shorter so the shaft had to be longer to reach it) Is that also the case with the 944 manual rack?

They won't interchange. The 924 has a completely different crossmember, and sits differently. The input shaft to the rack is also a different size.

I have both, they are different.

The mounts are different.

The input shaft size AND angle are different.

Also, IIRC, the 924 manual rack had a significantly higher ratio, which would make it uber-terrible with a wider tire. I think the ratio was slackened off somewhat with the 931, and then changed again for the 944 (in response to criticism of the heavy steering).

Ok but with the 944 manual rack do you need to swap the steering shaft or not?
any chance you could get a pic with them next to each other?

Steering shaft is different between the power and manual 944 steering racks. The manual steering rack steering shaft is longer to make up the difference.
