I want to put in an entry, but need at least 2 more drivers.
PS. Where did you find a 944 for under $500? I was thinking I'd probably have to go with a 924...
Edit, Looking at prices, I don't even see doing a 924 for under $500. How the hell are you doing a 944?

how did you guys get your racing licenses, and how long did it take, how much, and how hard was it.
2.2: Driver Eligibility: All drivers must have a valid US or International driver's license and a valid competition license (club memberships, rally licenses, and instructional licenses are not accepted). The ONLY acceptable competition licenses are: AMP, SCCA, FIA, NASA, NASCAR, CSRG, ARCA, WestCar, SRL, Legends/600, USAC, CASA, BCRA, NCMA, CRA, ICSCC, HMSA, HSR, and SVRA. If you don't have one of these, you'll need to cough up for either an AMP Competition Permit ($50) or a NASCAR Competition License ($90). Either credential is valid for the full calendar year and can be purchased from AMP in advance. (A little while after your team is officially accepted, the Team Captain will receive the appropriate applications in the mail.)

Fill in the form send in the 50 bucks and BANG you are licensed to drive at Altamont. After seeing this my friend and I will definately be there to watch. Maybe enter the October race. So far the concept is "Team Craigslist"

don't make that 944 too nice:
1.4: Claiming Race: At the end of the competition, organizer may elect to purchase any vehicle from its owner(s) for $500. In other words, don't spend a lot on a cheater—cause if you do, you ain't gonna own it much longer.
i was trying to get a team together this year, but looks like it'll have to wait 'til next. we even found a circle track car with cage, running for $400.
go luck, watch out for the “Grille of Damocles”!

We have also taken out all of the windows with the exception of the windshield. We cut out the inner door skins, and this car is looking more and more like a race car everyday. Half of the team is going over to Germany to Pick up Misha's new BMW 335i coupe, so we have to hurry up and get this car done soon. We have been in sponsorship talks with red Bull and a few other companies, but nothing concrete yet. If anyone want's to advertise a company, or business on our car, just let us know. We have been filming everything, and we are going to be making a short documentry about our race team, when the race is all done. All contributions are greatly appreciated, and we look forward to seeing everyone at Altamont.

We did a little driving in the 944 "lemons" car last night, and it is really fun. It's amazing what taking about 400-500 pounds out of a car does to the acceleration, and handling. We were following one of the team members 1998 e36 BMW M3 and he couldn't pull away at all. This thing is pretty quick!

I'm thinking you are new here right? You might want to read up on the P-car angst that permeates this forum!

I recall reading the Race organizer's article in Excellence when he bought a 928S for $500 to compete in a similar 500 mile race. I love his writing style!
I wish you the best, Lane and Co. Will you have some sort of cheering section? I might show up for the first day.

Did anyone see the VW Minibus that is going to be running to make things interesting?
I don't know what "make things interesting" means, but I would imagine it comes along the lines of demo-duty.
