I've long considered dropping in an Audi 4.2, but it would require cutting the strut towers to fit the camcovers in. Maybe the 2.7TT

I read an article a while back about a 914 with a Subaru 2.5 STi motor, I wonder if it would fit in the 944.
sorry for the hijack

Too wide... I'd go the WRX in 914 route myself if I were to ever drop a non-Porsche engine in any Porsche.

True...
downside being that you're stuck with a 928!

The 928 is your car's daddy. Give it some respect.
:P
Besides, I don't see an NA engine bay looking like this:

Why bother with such a small engine when a torque-monster V8 can be used for the same price? Plus it'll be more expensive in the long run to squeeze additional power out of the Suby engine compared to the American motor.
If I decide to keep my car indefinately and an engine rebuild is in order, I would seriously consider an American V8 as an option.

Thats a rare Volvo super engine there. Fishey is going to mod that thing into the car and pull like 600hp. Just for the math that's 120hp a cylinder! yeah! he's cool.
