Default Speeding Ticket...

Good grief. It is all the car's fault. I was busted for doing 65 in a 55. I do that all the time in my wife's Honda Civic and never even get a second look. I was coming back from Seattle to Spokane and decided to drive down to the Couv and take Hwy 14 next to the Gorge and the Columbia river. Great scenery and a pretty decent road.

I had just passed a truck and maybe hit 70. The sheriff pulled me over and gave me the ticket I even pulled out the military ID hoping I would get a break, no such luck So, $91 later and I think it was the Guards Red Porsche that caught his eye and not the fact that I was only going ten over the speed limit.

Still had a great drive, that is a fun road. Good turns and a few good straights. I had her up to 120 pretty quickly. I love this car!

$91 isnt too bad My worst is just over $600CDN.

I still blame the Weltmeister sway bars for that. Was having too much fun on a twist highway in the interior with no other cars around.

I got a $250 ticket for doing twice the speed limit (70 in a 35)...I was the only car around so there was no dodging it. Yeah I deserved it, but there were no cars around and it was oh-so-appealing! And the worst part was that I was unable to take the traffic school course to expunge the ticket b/c I was 4 days off the required 24 months! 4 days!

Yeah I just got hit tonight and waited for 4 hours for the cops to show. the guy who hit me had a rental so he was required by law to get a police report. Cops passed us right and left, and when we were able to flag a few of them down, they'd spout bull**** like, "sorry, my jurisdiction is on the other side of the street. You'll have to wait for the right officer." We were given this response three times.

When a cop did finally show who was available (we had to flag him down as well) he was like, "you guys have been waiting here 4 hours?! I never got anything from dispatch..."

Tucson cops are so corrupt it's disgusting. I'm sorry but I can't have any respect for a servant of the law when they don't obey it themselves. Lead by example my ***...

[/end rant]

*edit* oh, um, sorry about your ticket

Hehe, a Guards Red Porsche is a cop's field day.

I just wrapped up a high-speed run to LA where I got to play with a Cayenne Turbo S (he was in and out of the HOV lanes like he owned the place), a slick Firebird (that didn't last long), and an older Eclipse (kind of impressive, actually). I do this silliness because it's damn awesome a 20+yo car can pull this off! Most of these knuckle heads don't have a clue what just passed them.

The 951 is a great car.

Ok, heres the plan. You live in washington, in WA it is legal to briefly exceed the speed limit to make a pass. Challenge the ticket and take it to court. summon the officer to the hearing, and if he doesn't show up you get off clean, if he does, tell him the story. Also you need to get a copy of the officer's write up of the ticket violation as soon as possible.

yea, you should always challenge the ticket, most of the time the officer doesnt even bother to come and you get off. ive gotten out of many tickets that way

IMHO, 10 over is the normal speed. On the freeway where 65 is the limit, I'll cruise at 80 and everyone and their blind grandmother passes me. I've gotten mine before and it was well deserved. 91 bucks isn't bad at all. After my class and fines, it was roughly 350-400; I don't think you got it too bad. Then again, if I had boost to aid me, I would probably have more than one ticket to my name.

I get pulled over all the time (in the red car) and follow traffic rules, don't speed. I have zero points on my license. Had an officer on the other side of the road pull a U turn to catch me with a burnt license plate bulb. Glad they are busy keeping us safe.

I just finished paying for a 78 in a 55 in a double fine zone on a Porsche Run. Came to $268 with internet traffic school to erase the point. Mine was a total speed trap and was in a two lane each direction passing zone. In this state I just found out it's illegal on a two-lane road to pass anyone going less than 10 mph under the speed limit. That's becuase you have to be passing at least 10 mph faster than the the slow car which puts you over the limit. Stupid freaking law because I know you used to be able to exceed the speed limit while passing on a two-lane road. So if some idiot is doing 46mph on a 55 limit two-lane country road legally I can't pass them...what a crock.

my most expensive ticket was $75.00... that was for 25 over, with no proof of insurance. (I had insurance, the car ate my card). I'm guessing because it was my birthday, and I was cooperative and let the officer call my insurance company to verify that I was insured, he let me off with 10 over... I mailed in the check because I was grateful he marked it down so much. he did show me the radar gun...

he was hiding behind one of those "Your speed" signs... my radar detector peeped, I saw the sign, and went to see how fast I could get it to read... I got it to 60 mph in a 35... I told him that and he was laughing... he showed me his radar gun and everything...

I got my first speeding ticket about a month ago. I was doing 60 in a 35 zone, but the cop must have been in a good mood because he reduced it to 49 in 35. My court date is on April 19.
