Question Sunroof *HELP!! UPDATE w/Pics

I removed the sunroof for the first time today, and when I went to re-engage the arms, only the drivers side moved. When I went to check the passenger side, the arm pulled all the way out How can I access the system for t-shooting??

Does anyone have experience with this type of situation?? It should be a simple fix, but I've never had the panel off before.

Any help would be greatly appreciated

http://www.clarks-garage.com/shop-manual/body-03.htm

http://www.clarks-garage.com/ is an extremely useful site for the 944 models. I'd save it incase anything else breaks in your 968 before you sell it.

Bill, I looked at that, but does it apply to 968's? It operates the same as my past 951, but not sure if they made any changes between 1986-1994?

Thanks for the reply

Well, It seems that the gear is fine, but is something missing (i.e., drive cable).

Please anyone with knowledge on the sunroof mechanics???

Look in the drivers side cubby and up in the carpet area to find out if the cable is coiled up back there...

How would I get the cable fed back through the guide?

It seems that I missed a tooth broken off the gear, I guess that caused the cable to foul up

Pull the carpet back off the driver side cubby to expose the sunroof motor. Remove the round cap from the motor drive area and use a 24mm (maybe 22mm?) socket to turn the motor in the direction to bring the cable back through the tube. Adjust it until the end of the cable goes through the opening in the tube. At this point the arms need to be adjusted so that the sunroof is the the closed/locked position.

You can just push it in by hand until it meets the little gear on the motor, then have somebody in front press the sunroof button until it's fed through. If you've got soft hands (like mine) I'd recommend gloves ;D

Thanks for the tips, I'll try to get the cable back through as soon as I get a chance
