Default 968 Motor Mounts (which ones)?

I was looking at motor mounts and it seems that they all apply to Manual trans. Anyone know what I need to look for when getting them for a tiptronic??

I think most of the vendors have them; and as I recall they are way more expensive for a tip.

I may be wrong (and hope I am) but I believe the only place to get Tip mounts (eng or trans) is the dealer. I hope I'm wrong because I have a tip (and I'm cheap )

I really can't imagine the engine mounts being different from manual trans mounts, they share the same motor in the same configuration as the manual right?

Would motor mounts for a 6-speed even fit in a tip car?

I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but I know the answer to this question, based on first hand experience. There are NO aftermarket alternatives to the 968 motor mounts for tip equipped cars, and if you try to get by with the ones for a 6 speed, you will have a horrid vibration and will generally hate life when you drive your car. You will also hate life when you get to put in that second set of motor mounts, after they arrive from Germany since no one stocks them in the US.

Oh, and its about $600 for a new set... I have a slightly worn set of original tip mounts if anyone is interested, they were slightly collapsed but the car wasn't vibrating at all. I just replaced them while I was swapping in a steering rack, since I am stupidly **** about the damn car...

Regards,

Hey Scott, thanks for the info. I always kinda wanted a tip, but now I'm glad I have a 6-speed. $600 is outrageous! I wonder if we could do something like what the 928 people do - instead of spending $10,000 on motor mounts (same for auto and stick) they found a Ford motor mount which fits perfectly and costs like $30 each.

I notice your 968 is horizon blue metallic. My mom just bought a 968 of the same color (coupe, 6-speed, gray interior) ... it's a nice color!
