For the J-tube, I just couldn't pay ~$130 for that. Mine looked pristine, but I don't know.

New bolts are going to cost a fortune (~$26ea for short, ~$12ea for long.), and if they are not bent or twisted, I would use them.

--edit just noticed you are talking about the Rennsport bolts. I don't know what those cost.
i gotcha, thanks man!

My j-tube looked pristine too...I didn't see the need to replace either...I've heard that some become cracked (?).

I posted my tensioner project a month or so ago with some pics if it'll help ya. Just search my name and you'll find it.

The bolts I'm talking about are $104 for all of them. Much cheaper then the OE bolts, and they look better as well. I guess I'll find out what all I need when I start tearing into it.

Thanks though!

I'm in the middle of this project right now. Ordering my parts today. Pads, Gasket Set, and Rennspeed Bolts. No J-Tube for me; mine still looks great.

Couple questions.

1. Do I need to replace the crush washers on the J-Tube?
2. Can the valve cover be sand blasted? The paint on mine bubbled on the underneath side and cracked off into the cam area with pieces laying everywhere. Would it be ok to sandblast the underneath side, or should I use Brake Kleen to remove the paint?

Why not replace the crush washers to ensure the seal to the pipeline (J-tube)?

p/n N.013.807.4 - $0.53 ea, you need 4.

sand blasting the under-side is just fine.

Gtroth- At the time I asked, I was unaware that 944online had them. I picked some up with my order at 0.55 cents each.

Were the valve covers factory painted this silver? If so, some people ought to be pulling theres and re-doing it as these paint chips could cause some problems if bad enough. I'm going to leave mine bare until summer when I can get it powdercoated, or must I seal it to keep from ruining the cover?

Thanks
