Default Long time fan...first time owner.

Well, I just became a Porsche owner today......somewhat by accident. I stumbled across an eBay auction for a 944 that was to good of a deal to pass up. I've owned several BMWs (street and race cars) and currently a VW race car.

The 944 is a 1986 and it needs a little work. I do all the work myself, so I'm sure you'll see several posts from me asking for advice. The first job will be to replace the head gasket, followed by a freshening of the shift linkage.

A little about me, I'm one of the founders and current National Coordinator of GTS Challenge and I'm also the regional GTS Director for OH/IN. I've been a car guy since I was 10 and racing since 1996.

That's all for now.

I think my mistake was having the auction end at dinner time...I was expecting it to end about $600 to $800 higher than that! Glad it's going to a good home though...and welcome to Rennlist!

You just never know with these auctions. The last car I bought on eBay was a BMW 318is. The description talked about an engine noise. I guessed it wasa timing chain tensioner...I was right. $1000 for the car, $40 for the part, I drove it for 8 months and then sold on ebay for $2950. You just never know how it will end.

You never know, the 944 may end up a race car. My girlfriend is already talking about using it for HPDEs.

I think it would make a good base to build a race car from... That's what I was going to do with it originally, but I decided that two projects was too many and I wanted to focus on getting my MG Midget ready for autocross and maybe some vintage racing someday...

I just googled GTS Challenge...Looks awesome!

I did the Bertil Roos racing school last year and I've definately been bit by the racing bug ever since....

Nope, I wasn't going to bid again. I bid 1050 yesterday afternoon and had decided not to to bid again. Heck, I wasn't even looking for a 944.
