I took mine for a Spring drive Friday. I live about 20 miles from Hwy 129 that runs from Maryville, Tn over into North Carolina; something like 11 miles and 130 curves.
The weather was great, so I took the Turbo (Christine; I always name my cars, it makes em easier to cuss when I work on them. The name came from the PO having a heart attack when he had her and me having a mild stroke last year while doing a front seal/belt job on her.) up The Dragon. I was already in Maryville, so why not?
I have driven my other Pcars up this road and the curves scrub your momentum off, even though that's what Pcars are about; curves. All my other cars had 75-125 HP max and you had to really work the transmission to keep them going, plus be careful not to cook the brakes. Enter a curve, load the suspension up, and put it to the floor to exit as fast as possible. This was my 1st trip in the turbo and I used the same MO. I almost launched myself off the next curve and into the trees below. If you keep the revs around 3k, the wastegate is just sitting there open, waiting for the throttle to send it the boost (close) signal. You better have it aimed and have enough straightaway to slow down for the next curve. I had disconnected my power steering because I got tired of the leaks oiling up the underside, so I was exhausted when I got to the top. I only passed two cars going up and they were going by the dam down in the straights. I scared the hell out of a tractor trailer who came around a 180 on my side. Didn't get behind anybody coming back down, but I was resting by then.
I had my Ipod hooked up through the stereo and had 'Thundering Masters', that TV cd w/Mozart, Wagner and such, cranked up. What a drive!!!!!!
(sorry for the blurry picture)

OMG. the **** that came outta my tailpipe. I pasted the front of the Malibu-boo with black soot. I guess it was months of Mobil1 sitting atop the head.

She's OK kids. all I need to say. Performed swimmingly. Now it's time to drive the bitch to Hershey.

I never let her sit this long before.

put about 500 miles on the 44 this weekend. drove to an airsoft tournament near portland, OR and got to open her up quite a few times. Best part was crossing willamette pass at 2:30 in the morning, nobody, but me and the truckers the whole way, only problem was at 5000 feet I could feel the car straining for more dense air molecules!

I can't drive mine 'til I reinstate the collision coverage which I cancelled for the winter

So I spent Sat. afternoon detailing the interior and dreaming of summer drives...

Swapped back to summer tires and took a long ride and a few short ones. Heading out again tomorrow. The Michelin sidewalls are so much stiffer than those Blizzaks - it's like a different car! Welcome spring!

LA>Desert>La. 944 is my daily driver now. So, I see lots of 44 action.

I was busy tightening my hatch frame up there; too busy for spirited driving. Now, I am left with the endless and agonizing adjustment process.

I'll be in touch as soon as I know more.

I do miss the 924S as a daily.. but appreciate it more when I do fire it up now.
If you have the car in the Front Royal area, I highly recommend Route 211.
I'm surprised to hear about my old stomping grounds on the boards. I went to highschool in Manassas, and had my first racecar-related job in Manassas Park. My parents have lived in Front Royal for the past 8 or 9 years. I was actually just up there this past week until Saturday. Enjoy!

Mines a weekend car so yea, I took it out and was rewarded with a failed fuel pump, luckily I was relatively close to home.
