Default Should I Let 'em put my 944 in a movie?

Got a call last nite from someone from the Porsche club about a movie company looking for 944's. They want to buy 2 cars and rent 1. They will destroy 2 944's in the filming but the rental would be "protected." They want to rent my car and promise just to "trailer it" and film it parked, may not even drive it.

I passed. What would you do? Anyone in Austin interested pm me for info.

What's the plot? Any more info on the film itself?

I only let select people drive my car, and I have to be in it. You made the right choice.

A college friend's dad used to drive trucks carting around cars for photo shoots, commercials, and movies. The cars were not babied even when they were 'rented' from private owners. Sometimes rentals would end up like the purchased cars....oops.

If your car is personal to you, you made the right call. I've heard too many horror stories. On the other hand, if it is just a piece of machinery... wait, you're on rennlist. Nevermind.

Why don't they look at the countless parts car threads we have up here? :P

I wouldnt support any film that intentionally destroys 944s without racing or parting out.

ohh maybe its fast & furious 4 "euro drift(and crash)"
god I hope not.

I would have passed as well, if you will not be there with your car 100% of the time, it will be treated like crap, trust me.

Carl, there should be a movie made ABOUT your car. It's prettier than all the celebs around today anyway.

I would totally let them film my car. Not because of the fame, but because of the check.

I'd let them molest my 944... if that meant I could afford a clean 951.

(Note- my car has a salvage title anyway.)

Either my Turbo S or My race car would an "only within my sight" kind of thing. If I could not watch it 100% of the time they "rented" it they would not be touching it.

As for destroying two 944's.... well that is just sad and I just hope their were not nice cars to start with.

Hey these cars are getting older and age, crappy owners, and unfortunate incidents are killing of many 944's. I hate to see these cars just thrown away for no reason. Even my 83 that I am parting has way too many good parts still on it to just tear-up and throw out. The tub may bent, but its parts will breath new life into a number of other 944's. Hey take street car and turn it into race car and wad it up... at least is was a death worth of a Porsche. However being destroyed in the background in some movie? naw just get 2nd gen Rx-7. From distance they looks the same anyway.

Carl has one of the nicest 944s, period.
If it were mine, I'd never let any stranger touch it. I think you made the right call.
