as i said, merely a daydream... and it seems controversial just to pull the 944's motor anyway, considering how it's so tractable and suited for the application.

but when and if i get the cash to do it right, i'll certainly give it a shot... or at least think about it some more. i fear that i'd have to use a 996 motor, because the 944 doesn't appear, in terms of facial openings, to have proper air flow for an air cooled motor, unless grills were added to the hood.

LS1 and LS2 motors don't weigh much more than the 944 motor and changes the weight distribution by a percent or two.

Those "small" small block v8s are way bigger than any 350 chevy.

Wouldn't the flat six be to wide for a 944, not to mention extremely expensive?

Just daydreaming here, that's all.
I'll start off.. anything is POSSIBLE.

If you WANT to throw money away buy an older Ferrari. or a Lambo- they are even worse.

Been done- worse than lighting Benjamins on fire for cheap cigars.

To do it right you'd want to put the flat six in the back of the 944. Never mind.

That would be cool - kinda like those early Lotus Esprits. Put a firewall behind the back seats, and peek at the engine through the hatch!
