most likely bad CV joint

Default most likely bad CV joint

so ive got this sound coming from the back of the car...its a clicking sound..it changes with speed, and only comes about on acceleration and deceleration. i put the car up on jackstands an rotated the left and right rear wheels...it feels like the passenger wheel has SLIGHTLY more play in it so im thinking thats where the problem is.....

so im guessing ill have to buy a new/rebuilt axle with the CV joints...

anyone have a source? should i replace both? how hard is it to do...im not afraid of doing it..i just want to have an idea of the process

It gets worse in bad weather (cold) You can repack the CV's and swap sides for a while- this way you have time to research the best parts/ price. I suspect a year or so unless this has been done prior unbeknownst to you.

I had the same problem. Repacked the CV joints on the passenger side axle. (thanks 75ohm!). Will be driving the car this week to see if it is all better.

Will drive it to-from work tomorrow. Should be enough to let me know if it is fixed.

Drove it in this morning, so far no noise. Will see what happens on the way home.
However. I think the new grease gave me 34 more HP.

i have a set of turbo axels fs - not clicking working great in car currently i just bought new ones though.

I had the same thing happen to me a few months ago, a local porsche mechanic replaced both of mine (only one was bad) for about $850. Go ahead and replace both joints while your at it.
