Looks like the same adj. voltage regulator that's included in the iceshark headlight kit?

Yes -- in fact, I've purchased from Dave Barton in the past (about two and a half years ago).

But I would still shoot him an e-mail first because at the time, there was a bit of a confusion. He normally stocks Transpo IB372A -- and he says the Transpo catalog indicates that it fits. Iceshark (may he rest his soul) used to ship his light kit with Transpo IB373A -- very similar except there's a small capacitor on it. Neither one of us figured out why there is a capacitor there.... I got him to ship me IB373A.

Maybe the cap was used to reduce alternator whine from the radio??

The cap (small ) suppresses high frequency noise. The battery acts as a capacitor (large) to smooth out the voltage from the regulator
