Yes you were schooled, err i mean you did learn something.

In 03 i looked at an 83 with a build date stamped on the inside of the rear bumper corner of may 17th 82 i believe. i may be off a couple of days.

I think it'd be the Sh** if I could stumble upon a car with the build date of May 6th.

I don't think parts dates mean much. Mine has a build date of 2/83, and fuel lines with "4/82" painted on. Maybe I should get those fixed.

I have 2 83 MY 944s with 6/82 build date. The 10th character of a 82 VIN has to be a C or its not a 82 MY car.

having parts on an origianal car that were made before the car was built is probably (although I am not sure ) OK. It is having an original car with parts made after the build date that usually raises eyebrows.

Titled as a 83 - "D" code I guess(?).
Made in 82, fairly early import (?) - came from California, now in MW Missouri.
