price for an '82 944?
While talking with my brother he told me of a 944 at a tow company that the owner wants gone. The tow company has put in a new clutch and was hoping to sell it, however it was stolen. Recovered three days later the car now had a primer paint job, missing sunroof, and the ignition torn out. It also arrived back with two small dents on the passenger front fender.
The interior is so-so, however it starts right up and runs well. I am thinking of this as a parts car, however do not know if much will swap with my '87. Anyone know? Also what would be a good price for the car?

$1,000,000. AFAIK, there was no official 1982 Porsche 944.
The build date could be '82, but the model year will be 1983.
Engine will fit, as will the trans.
Late offset vs. Early is of course swappable, but not interchangable.
The dash is different, but "a few" (I use that loosely, because I'm sure it's more than that), interior pieces will be interchangable.
Realistically? $500 for a running mess, $100 for non-running. Those are CA prices, prices vary depending on the availibility of a car in different states.
That's all I can think of, Joe. HTH,

couple hundred bucks with no title, messed up ignition, paint, etc.
no more than 1k.
most of the important parts will swap out, not the suspension parts or wheels, tho, IIRC.

The first 944 MY was 82 and was mainly europe only. Not a great deal were made. I am not near my reference materials at the moment but I'll get the number.
That doesn't mean this car isn't an 83 with a build date in 82. The VIN would determine this for certain.

(Hence why you and I both mentioned it could be an 83 with an 82 build date. You see, I covered my **** since I either a.) didn't know it, or b.) knew it but it was holed up in the back of my brain somewhere.)
Smile, it's Saturday!

For the record there were 3,921 MY82 944's. All were ROW, but that doesn't mean that one wasn't imported here for some reason. The VIN# for an 82 will therefor be WPOZZZ94ZCN400001-3921.
Nice CYA attempt, kid.
