Jack stand question
Want to do some work on my new (to me) 951S. I remember from my old 944S that the jack stands dented the underside of the car (frame rails in front and points in front of rear tire). Is there a way to avoid denting these areas.
Also there seems to be a plastic cover over the frame rails that was not on my 944S. Are the jack stand points the same?

Never had any problems with the denting. There are plastic under covers that could potentially become damaged up on the front rail area, you just have to be careful. Jacking points/ jack stand support positions the same.

The rails or the plastic shields?
I have seen more than my share or smashed up shields near those front rails.
Are you using those classic death trap flat tops or the newer axle grabber style jack stands?

I have dented the rails not the shields. My jack stands are not totally flat. They look a bit like these.

I've wondered if the rear torsion bar end caps are ok for jack stands. They way they stick out looks perfect, but I've never tried it for fear of bending it.

I have several of the same $9.99 set jackstands
I have seen the torsion tubes sticking out used multiple times, and those guys track etc and to no ill effect.
I don't feel safe using them but that is me.

I've got one on stands like that right this very moment. Never had a problem doing it that way. Also like to use the TT and even the factory stand point just in front of the rear wheel well. Depends on what I am doing under there.
My big thing recently was upgrading to 6 ton stands and get the car up higher. What a difference another 7" makes when you get under there. Not to mention the piece of mind you get when you compare the two types of stands side by side.

Front I used the caster block.
If I need to get to the control arm I used the frame. I do have bends in the sheet metal
In the rear I used the t-bar support, not the t-bar end cap.
Nice flat surface and no concerns about bending the t-bar end cap tube.
