Cool Surf Rack on a 944

Hey Guys,

Its just about starting to get warmer here in Southern California (and to everyone not in SoCal, my condolences). That means is almost surfin' time!

Anyone have any experience putting a surf rack on these cars? Any pics, etc? On a related note, when I was in Maui a couple months ago I saw a yellow 914 pull up to DT Flemming's Beach with a long board strapped to the top/ It was awe-inspiring.

Surfs up-*

No, but you can always pick up another vehicle for a surf mobile...

Are you going to take multiple boards? I fit a 9ft fun board and a 6 1/2 short board inside my 944 by dropping the passengers seat down and putting them in diagonally. Not sure what you are trying to fit though

Occasionally you can get a Porsche factory roof rack on ebay. I got one that had never been out of the Porsche box for 56.00 and a ski rack (factory option) for 92.00. Not living in so cal I'll be skiing for a couple of months yet.

When I moved from ME to MI, I rented a U-Haul car top carrier on an '86 na. I would think if the U-haul worked, you shouldn't have much problem with a surf board rack.

Saris roof racks, I guarantee it could handle a surf board.

A typical softrack system shold work as well. I bought a FCS softrack system for CHEAP on eBay that i plan to use with my NA this summer on the way up to Lake Michigan. (great lakes surfer here...)

Anyone want to sell/trade me a longboard for my 6'2'' Wooster?
