Hi all
It was about 18 degrees this morning as i set out to work....she started right up with no hesitation/groans/stumbling..
Let 'er sit and warm for about a minute and took off.......
Once warm air was heating my toes...i kicked the BOOST
The thin air really makes a diffference.....I was "on it" all the way to work...now the fun's over.....
By the way...my new brakes feel awesome...Thanks Dan!!!!!!

 

My car to! I can't understand when people pack there cars away for the winter, its the best time to drive for me. A nice overcast really dry cold day + boost = pure joy.

 

i personally don't like to wake my car up in the cold...she gets angry at me! but its true, once i see the temp gauge's needle in the right spot she feels quite perky!

 

There is a dilemma - while motors love the colder denser air in the winter months, the tires have far less grip. Of course in the summertime, there's plenty of grip, but the air isn't as dense.

Cold air has a distinct advantage, gas turbines love it!

 

mine does great when its cold- she's just scared of salt.

 

ARGH!!!! I didn't take mine today because it was cold. Now i'm jealous.

 

Rust, I don't want to drive my cars in the salt on the roads. There is a guy in my PCA region who bought a STUNNING Porsche a few years ago. It was a very nice concour car and he takes very good care of it, but he drives it year round and now it looks awful. Again, he cleans it all the time and takes very good care of it, but the daily driving in the winter kills it.

 

Well the car is galvanized and will not rust unless it was previously damaged.

the worst we get is rain, and there's no road salt in sacramento, so on a dry, cloudy, COLD day, the turbo gets time to play....

 

The BODY of the 944 is galvanized, but that doesn't mean that salt and road grime can't eat away at other components of the car.

Agreed. Working underneath a 944 you can easily tell the difference between one that is driven all year round and one that is garaged in winter time, at least here in the midwest (aka "The Land O' Salt").

 

The interior in mine sounds awful until you drive the car for 40 minutes, put the heat on, and let everything expand. Between the sunroof and the dash flexing, it sounds like the interior of a city bus. That's what annoys me most about a 944 in winter.

I also pulled the AC condenser out from in front of the radiator. Should run nice and cool.

 

Well around my area they don't typically salt any of the roads, it hardly ever snows here. I understand why people put their cars away in the more northern states where the salt will just ruin a car during the winter.

 

I took mine out yesterday and it ran incredible. 85 mph and the turbo is begging for you to floor it and close the wastegate so it can do its job!! It just gives you that shove in the ***!!
I talkede to Robby last night and he brought that up about the cold tires.
