My 951 has been tucked safely in the garage for the past month or so because of all the damn snow we've gotten... (More on the way btw ) How do you guys not go into shock not having your Porsches on the road? My boost withdrawl gets worse every day...

it's not the salt... it's not the mag chloride... it's the tires... RA/1s SUCK in the snow...

Oh yeah, and all of the ice mounds in the middle of the road, and all the people who think that because there is snow (somewhere) on the roads, they're allowed to drive like morons (run red lights... blatantly, go 60 on the icy highway in their 4wd blazer while traffic is moving at a steady 25 mph, etc. etc.), and the poor visibility from the snow piles that are taller than any of my cars, I'm sure you get the picture...

Here if there is even a flurry people drive like they will spin out if they pass the 35mph mark. Very annoying.

Do you like your RA1's in normal weather?

I feel your pain, I parked mine in September.

The thing that really gets me is the fact that it has not snowed here once this season. I would have been better off parking it in the heat of summer, this has been a very mild winter.

Move to California. . . No snow, no road salt, no southern rednecks and no trollo. It's all good man.

(Note: "Southern redneck" comment not directed at Lorax, he's cool. More of just a general comment).

This makes eight glorious years I haven't seen snow. Life is good. Ahhhhh. :P

You know, having the car off the road seems to me a good opportunity for repairs and upgrades.

I admit, I too feel the hurt seeing my car inside. However, we got a foot and a half of snow yesterday....and the roads are sloppy.

As long as the Mercury runs, it can bear the brunt of winter.

Geoff, you get used to it.

Nov 04 - May '06 I put under 100 miles on the 951.
May 06 - August 06 I put 5000 miles on the 951
August '06 it broke and sat in my driveway till October when I started tearing it down again.

And I used to daily drive it and put 70-100 miles a day on it before then.

I am working on possibly an LS6 in my e34 though

Simple- get an NA, consider the fact that it's galvanized and will last awhile even in winter, and just drive it. Then all the interior squeaks and creaks you hear make you want a better winter car, and withdrawal never sets in.

I'm on Whidbey island Wa. Parked the Pcar Monday eve. after work. And I'll be darned if the weather people did not get it right, it snowed. Not much, but then it got cold and froze everything. So I am driving the Toyota PU, good old reliable, ski rig. But Yeah, I already miss the Porsche.

Easy, just leave it in the garage year round and then you never take it out and get attached. Duh!

Except that it is Georgia! Been here for 16 years, looks like I'm getting out of prison this summer. (the south that is) Wifey finally gave the go ahead to reverse migrate to the frozen north. I drive my 951 to much anyways.

I don't store mine in the winter but I won't drive it if it's snowed within the last week (that's about the time it takes to get most of the salt off the main portion of the travel lanes). Some of those long hauls between driving are aided by the fact that I have a second sports car to drive.

BB.
