Default AARRRGGGHHHH!!!!

So the weather was pretty nice here today...uppers 50's. So I decide to take the little red car for a run. Which I had not done in over a month. It hadn't started in so long the battery was almost dead. The heater was running and after awhile it got kinda hot so I raised the sunroof. When I went to shut it, it wouldn't lower. I couldn't even hear the motor turning. Also my wipers messed up on me. The windshield was a little dirty so I tried to use the washers. The wipers made one or two circuits, but no water. So I turned them off. But they didn't go down all the way. It seems like everytime I drive it something else goes wrong.

I think I should just build a glass enclosure, polish the thing up real good, seal it in there, and just let people look at from now on.

So does this mean that the motor on the roof went out? Or could it be something else? Thanks

Sunroof motors go bad pretty often. Things not working is just how most 944s are but some how we love them.

LOL That's a good one Airflite. Well if it is the motor, it needed to be checked anyway. The arms wouldn't retract to allow me to remove it. Guess I can kill two birds with one stone.

the microswitch on the front of the roof is likely the culprit...its located in the middle of the header.

you didn't say but did/do you ever charge the battery after it's been sitting?

low voltage is a cause of a lot of problems.

I have noticed in the past that if I pushed up on the front of the header it would go up. It wouldn't if I didn't. But it would close without having to do that.

Sounds like that's your answer then....I took the microswitch out and hardwired it...no more problems.

Can I just replace the microswitch? I really don't know how to hardwire it.

Seconded... My 924S is mad that I got a 951, and the 951 is mad that it can't be driven in this snowy weather... I can't win...

I seriously think my 924S works better when I use it as a daily driver. These things seem to like to be driven.

The microswitch probably needs either cleaning or adjustment. It is usually not necessary to hard wire the switch. The procedure is on Clark's garage, I dare not repeat it for I fear I will get it wrong
