Another I hate my PO thread: Battery tray leak!!
Am I SOL or what?
I guess this could have wet my KLR unit causing my boost problem.
Merry Christmas

Absolutely! Gotta love the rusted battery tray. Get your head down there and take a look at the firewall under the dash as well as the floorboard...probably pretty eaten up as well. Lots of good write-ups here on the list for the tray.

From the pics others have posted I'd say mine is the worst
I think I'm going to do the truck bed liner thing in this thread...

your on the right track but sanding that compartment down is essential. you'll find more holes. once you do, patch them on both sides. id use POR15, then fiberglass, Large sections, i did mine to two halves. then scuff it, then use POR15 again, THEN, use the bed liner. it sucks cause to do this right the battery will be out of your car for a FEW days! maybe even a week. mine was a long painful drawn out process. Good luck, let us know how it goes..

made in indiana IIRC- por15 grabs onto rust and locks out any air in the metal, stopping rust and keeping it from continueing. Then you can fiberglass the hole up and recoat it . No need for truck liner.

Right now I'm using a dremal wire orbital an then cleaning it with paint thinner and then I'm planning on using the baking soda. This whole thing is really starting to bother me. I think I might reinstall the battery real quick to I can hear my new B&B catback which I haven't heard yet. I'll be sure to post clips.

Mine was not that bad but I have repaired this on both my 944 and 924.
Por15 is great when painted on it does not chip or come off and will protect it from further corrosion.
what you need to do is sand off as much of the rust as possible, the use a screwdriver or whatever and make sure to smack the metal to punch holes and cut out all the section that fully rusted through and are soft. Then you can use an acid based rust convertor like the one that por15 also sells and soak it in that let it dry then pain the metal on both side with por15 paint and also fill any holes , if you have bigger holes use fiberglass.
this should fix it at least for many years.
