Best plugs
What do you guys recommend are a good (if not best) plugs to use in an 1989 944 NA 2.7L?
Im trying to stay away from bosch, since i have terrible experience in them (both NA and turbo models), but unless you can convince me otherwise.....

if you change the plugs on a regular basis then it really doesn't matter what kind. If want to go for 100K without touching them, then go with Bosch Platinums or something simmilar. All of them will give you the same performance.

Bosch platinums, do you mean the 4 electrode ones? Last year someone said about plugs to use only the Champion copper as the 4 electrode platinum ones "obscured the spark" quote.

According to Owners Manuals,
stock for '83 is WR8DS
stock for '86 & '87 944, 944S, & 944 Turbo is WR7DC
the Bosch number 7 head range will work for '88 & '89 N/A's with no problems. For anyone experiencing problems with Bosch platinums, it is most likely due to the fact that platinum has a much higher resistivity than copper or silver, thus you will have less spark energy with platinum plugs. Either that or you are using Platinum +2's or +4's, which due to the extra ground electrodes does not allow as much airflow through the plug as with a single electrode plug. They are longer lasting plugs, however, and if you have a car which is difficult to change plugs on (for example the 964), the small performance you may lose is offset by the longer mileage between plug changes.

I never pulled out a bosch plug (low or high milage) that looked good, the NGK's always show me a beautiful tan end (perfect runing engine), replacing just the bosch ones, and they are always black-ish.
The turbo ran, idled and responded so much better in NGK's than bosch, the 89 2.7L na is a friend of mine, trying to get some NGK's for him
