Default Another "Whats my car worth" thread...

Hey guys, the car isn't really for sale, just curious to what you guys think it might be worth. RolexNJ gave me some great information and everyone here on rennlist always seem to have great knowledge about these cars so i thought i would check with you. I’m sure everyone here no matter how long you have owned your car have thought "I wonder what this thing is worth". The car get taken care of meticulously, getting ready to roll 66000 miles and I have had alot of preventive maintenance done to it. Lots of receipt and all the books. Engine is stock, only thing not stock is wheels, exhaust, mirrors and door handles. Whenever i get ready to spend some money on it the question always comes up in my head, "I wonder what it's worth".
For you that have not seen it here’s a link to some pictures.

Thanks for the help guys.

Sorry I cant help with the value. I just wanted to say that is a outstanding looking 951. A quick question...what are those screw looking things infront of the headlights? some kind of headlight washing squirter?

your '86 is a very nice, low mileage car and it has a fresh clutch.
but, i suspect it will be difficult to fetch much more than what you paid for it from a buyer who knows a little about 944's. i dont think you should count too hard on the car appreciating beyond that threshold.
then again, there are buyers for almost everything.

Justin got 15k for his 86 with 70k miles, yours is easily as clean as his was so in that area would be a safe bet.

I had an idea of what it was worth and I thought the same exact thing Sam. His car was pretty freaking nice! Mine is close to his, not as perfect though. I have 4 tiny chips on the hood

Sam, i also took your advice on the wastegate, ordering a Tial 38mm next week

I was thinking the same as you and Sam, too, around $15k - with the caveat that you might have to wait for the right buyer, if your car was really for sale.

But let's face it - it's not for sale, you're just looking for an excuse to show off that beautiful car!

She's a KEEPER. Very nice.

In Canada, $10-$15K would be the average price. $15K only to the right buyer though.

Again, NICE CAR!

With your low mileage and condition I think it will go past $10K easily if you are patient and sold in the Spring. I always really admired your paint condition. It's not that hard to repair those paint chips and make them invisible if you only have a few. I plan to do my chip and paint touch up before I sell the car next Spring. I've already done the 1st stage power buffer polish on the whole car and the swirl marks and minor flaws are virtually gone. I wish I had done this earlier. You do have a beautiful example of a black 951.

I'll trade you for my '86 N/A.... and I'll even throw in an 82 Jeep CJ!

Great looking 951! Lets see some interior pics!

Thanks guys, i was thinking in the 14-15K range myself.
Heck i got 7000 for my previous car on ebay with 87000 miles and it was a N/A! I would like to get another P-car in a couple years and if the wife lets me, i will keep them both, otherwise i have to sell this one. I love this car though, i took it out for 30 miles yesterday in 13 degree weather, roads dry, no wind just really cold. It drove like a dream and that exhaust note sounds better and better everytime i drive it

Given its location, and if you could wait for the right buyer to come along, I would say somewhere around $12Kish. Although I love 86's due to the early offset, it seems that they suffer a little bit on value when compared to the 87-89 cars that tend to have a lot of other options. I can't really see $15K, although we all would love to see that you are approaching 88TS and 89 territory there (again, not taking anything away from your car, I love it and the vintage).

Oh, one more thing. You know what your car needs to be perfect, don't you?

Here in California it would go for 10-12k. I have seen a 70k miles in prime condition as low as 9k.
