Default 944 Cabriolet Top

Does anyone have information on the Convertible top replacement? Is it in any way a DIY job? Does anyone have information or pricing for a job of this caliber? Diagrams? Thanks!

It make a huge difference it look and feel like a new car, go for the best you can find. I always say "in my life I've often been sorry for not buying the better quality product but never for not buying the cheaper one"

I struggled quite a bit with the closing mechanism after fitting the new roof but after a couple of months it sorted itself out, the roof just needed some settling and stretching into place over time - I would NOT advice you to do it in winter - you need a lot of sun to get it to stretch in place.

I personally didn't want to take it on. I had a local covertible top guy install the top on my 968, he did it for $500 labor. I supplied the top to him. It just seemed like more then I wanted to get into, with the streching and allignment and everything.

I got mine off of Ebay also, a few months back, it was $400. The company is Rich and Famous tops, there in CA and list there number on the Ebay ad. I actually called them directly and ordered the top for the same EBay price. I also got a new boot from them. I'm very happy with the quality and got it very fast and they were very good to deal with it. EBay Link

By the way, if your having a shop do it, call around first and get there labor cost and there cost for the top with the window, while your on the phone ask about bringing your own top to be installed. One shop I called didn't want to install someone elses top and another would do it, but didn't seem to interested and I think his price reflected that, about twice what I payed at another place.

The labor would have been $500, but I had a snapped bow that needed to be replaced, so he charged me $550. Which was a good price for the amount of work to get replace the bow.
