Default Satellite Antenna Mounting

Hey guys, got my dad the sirius controller for his pioneer headunit and was wondering where you guys put the external antenna. The instructions say that it should be on a 12x12x6" metal surface away from the windows but our roofs of the 951 have no such area? Does it need to be metal? Or can i just mount it behind the sunroof in front of the rear brake light.

Any thoughts?

I mounted mine on the driver's side (far left looking from rear) behind the sunroof/right in front of hatch glass and I've had no problems. I then ran the wire parallel to the rear brake light wire. It's worked great.

Cool, where is that wire routed, through the body of the car or under the headliner? I hope I like sirius better then xm that my moms honda has. Thanks.

i ran mine up the a-pillar, over the door under the headliner pieces, out the back of the headliner and under the rubber trim- mounted it in front of the hatch where a 968 antenna would go- well i guess next to the 968 antenna.

I cheated and broke the rules. Placed mine on the dash. Far corner on the pass. side. Works just fine. You'll love Sirius. I've got it in all 3 of our vehicles and listen online too!
