Default Amsoil Synthetic Motor Oil

Anyone here run this stuff? Friend and I are about to go this route with some High Performance 10w-40 for the winter and just want to see if we can get some feedback.

Since the mobil 1 deal (I thankfully found days before I decide to do an oil change), we are forced to find something else, and Amsoil is the ticket.

Any feedback would be appreciated!

My friend swears by it in his Eclipse GSX. I'm gonna try it with my next oil change here in a few weeks.

I've run it for over a year in my 968 and like it so far. I poked around the forums for and saw good feedback. In fairness, my goal was improved oil pressure under high-load and high-heat conditions.

That said, I liked it enough to start using it in all my cars.

No commercial interest, just a satisfied customer...

I've used there 20-50 Racing oil for the past couple years on the track car, and been happy with it.

I run Amsoil 15-40w HD in both my 1985 944 and my 1995 Audi //S6 20v turbo. I've run this oil for the last 170k miles in the //S6, runs great, purrrs like new on idle.

What is the Mobil 1 deal you're talking about?

Haven't heard a thing about it...

Jason- https://rennlist.com/forums/showthre...ighlight=Mobil that is the thread to fill you in on Mobil I.

The 20W-50 is what my friend will be running in his WRX in the warmer weather. On the website, the 10w-40 high performance runs 7.30 a quart, but you can normally find a dealer near you to get it cheaper. We'll be buying it in gallon amounts to save money, since we will both be running the same stuff.

I was kind of in a rush to find some good oil fast, as I'm about to roll over 1k past the interval. I have just been making a lot of long trips recently, and didn't wanna put 1k on new oil that fast, as I normally don't drive this much. I do like the fact that the High performance is 15k/1 year oil. I will be going the 6k/6 month route just to be safe though.

How long do you guys go for your intervals?

You have to look up and locate a local Amsoil dealer (although they do sell some grades at Murrays Discount Auto Parts here in the Chicago area). I found one near me and get oil by the case. Nice guy, full-line dealer, knows his stuff.

I'm a fan of about 5000 miles or 1 year in a street car. Track use is more based on hours. If you're a street car doing some DE, I would look to change oil every 4 DE days (assuming typical DE of 4 runs per day, 30 minute runs).

Just my 2 cents.

I have ran Amsoil for years mainly the HP 10w-40 you are interested in. I have logged over 75k miles running the HP 10w-40 in my NA and as of recently I started running the Series 2000 20w-50. Currently my turbo goes through oil too quickly to justify such pricey oil so I run Valvoline VR-1 in it.
You will not be dissapointed in the Amsoil products. I would recommend getting their engine flush and running it per the instruction prior to changing over. Their Ea-36 oli filters are some of the best filtering medial out there but I do not like the fact they do not have a proper anti-drainback valve.

Look at the site it is a wealth of info. If you plan on ordering at least $100 a year of product you might want to consider being a preferred customer for $20 anually. It gives you 20% off all products (dealer cost) and a subscription to their newsletter.

I run the AMSOIL 20w50 Series 2000 Raing oil in my 944 spec car. Horribly expensive @ $9 qt, but I like the added protection for the rod bearings. I used to run Mobil 1, but find my pressures stay higher racing on AMSOIL. I run Valvoline VR1 20w50 in my street driven 951.

I'm confused, higher prices? I've been paying about $8 a quart for Mobil 1 20-50 and I can get the "european" blend 20-40 Amsoil Synthetic for about $7.20 a quart....??????

I've run Amsoil in my Maxima SE (Autocross, and no comments ) for a couple of years now. I've got nothing to complain about, seems like a great product that holds up better than M1.
