I will also be doing a Venturi delete on this car. with a full write up of course. You don't hear about a venturi delete except on the turbos...... hopefully the write-up will be done this weekend.

Wow, you had to pull your engine to install the MAF and chip?

Got logs?

jg, when you write up the venturi delete, please include vacuum readings (before/after) at the manifold, at idle and reving to 2,000 or 3,000 rpm or something like that. I'm wondering how much of a measurable diff. the delete makes on a known-healthy system. I think other people would be interested in the numbers, too, since this issue has come up before.

You probably know this, but just in case you don't, if you replace the vacuum hoses with S2 hoses, which I've been TOLD are the only ones being made right now, you will HAVE to delete the venturi. There are no openings to put the connector into. More expensive than just plugging up holes, but cleaner.

About the MAF, you're doing a great job on the custom intake, but I'm wondering how easy it would be to keep the stock boot/plastic pipe on the engine side. Will the boot fit onto the MAF?

I don't have a vacuum gauge, but I'll see if I can get one before i do the venturi write up.

never even heard that said before.

you probably could keep the plastic intake, I just don't trust plastic on these cars. As hot as these engines get, over and over, it's not something I want to keep. The boot WILL fit on the LR MAF because it is a 3.5" ID and the LR MAF is a 3.5" OD.

Any updated pics?? I'm looking to run the same setup and I am wondering what exactly is the best way to route the pipe over the headlight linkage.

Well, Russell and I are at it..... we are doing the chip/image for my maf... it should be finished by tonight or early tomorrow afternoon.

This is how the intake stands for testing....

The reason it is not routed under the header panel is because we will be doing TRUE dyno testing.

I am using stock parts that would normally be behind the AFM. Becaue I will go to the dyno to dyno test in order:

- stock chip
- 944SMAX chip/image V10
- 944SMAX MAF chip/image

you will be able to see each curve on the dyno chart and ACTUAL results from stock.

So until I get you those dynos (expect them next week), this will be the current routing of the MAF. Once I am finished, I will have my own complete intake plumbing, routed under the header panel.

Sweet

My 944S has been laid up since October 2001 due to a spun rod bearing. Since then I've been playing with supercharged 928's. The 944S is due to be back on the road this spring (all parts are here, replacement shortblock etc...). This is an EXCELLENT upgrade when she is on the road!!!!

Just a status update:

The lindsey racing maf didn't work. It just wasn't the right maf to be using.

So I switched to the SFR S2 Maf. It is made by Split Second.

As of right now, the car idles and runs GREAT! The only thing I have left to do is tweak the WOT fuel maps a little. The partial throttle a/f ratios are PERFECT! I should have pics tonight of the finished MAF, and zeitronix screen shots!

MAF installed. This is just a temporary setup. I will be using the same intake system that I used with the AFM. Expect dyno charts within the next 2 weeks (basically when i get a chance).

I Have driven the crap out of the car the past 2 days. Lots of dyno style runs to redline, and now have PERFECT a/f ratios in partial throttle and full throttle.

This couldn't have been realized without the Maxtronic and Maxtune. Thanks Russell
