Default Oil still leaking with new gasket... time for some new ideas.

well i replaced the cambox gasket and oil is still leaking down the block and onto the exhaust pipe. so by process of elimination the leak is not coming from the cambox gasket.
can anyone offer some insight as to how to find my leak. i still think its coming from the head gasket.

The only way to know for certain is to clean it up, then look for where the fresh leak is coming from.

Did you check teh sealing surfaces to make sure they are perfectly flat?

Also are you sure its not the cork rear cam gasket thats leaking?

The most typical sources for this sort of leak (besides the cam tower base gasket) are the round cork gasket at the back of the cam tower, the rear balance shaft seal, or the oilpan gasket. Two out of three are easy to deal with.

i can almost guarantee its coming from the cambox somewhere- cant guarantee that the cork gasket didnt come loose / housing is cracked somewhere/ cambox is warped and not sealing properly....

its deff not the cork gasket. the mating surfaces are straight, and besides, if it was leaking from the cambox, the oil would drip onto the manifold first, but its not, its dripping down the block and then onto the y-pipe.

Cam tower leaks will run down the block, not directly to the exhaust manifold. I'm with tifo on this, clean it thoroughly with brake kleen and then start it up and watch for it.
