Exclamation Low-cost custom machine work available.....

I have been doing some for myself more and more lately and wanted to make myself available here on Rennlist. I am skilled with both lathes and mills, as well as CNC lathes with live tooling. The manual lathe/mill are available anytime - the CNC stuff, only when there is a machine open.

The mill is a Bridgport with many upgrades including a +-.0005 Mitutoyo readout on the X and Y axis'. The lathe is an older, but really smooth/true machine - I just about have the bossman convinced to put the digital readouts on it..........

Typically I hold +-.0015 on the lathe and +- .005 on the mill unless the application requires closer tolerances - I have done as little as .00015 on the lathe - it's just a tedious thing to have to do.

Anyways, if you have a custom project that needs machining, I can probably do it - I can also generate a cad drawing of whatever the part is as well. Here's a list of materials I typically work with:

Delrin
PVC
Aluminum (2011, 2024, 6061, 7075)
Steel (12L14, ETD 150, 1015, 4130)
Stainless steel (303, 416)
Brass
BeCu
Ti (limited, VERY expensive)

If there is a material not on this list, it doesn't mean I can't do it - we just probably don't have it on the shelf.

I actually need a set of adapters made for my sparco seats and rails so that I can actually mount them. I don't have a drill press or steel cutting tools... should actually be pretty easy, just some 16-17" bars with holes drilled in them.

I've kept you in mind since you mentioned your skills previously. I'll get some official measurements and then will PM you details and we can work out a price.

When you say TI is limited but expensive to you mean materials or time?
I have a bunch of TI that I waterjetted and I need some machining of holes and an edge taken to a sharp blade.
When the water jet guy put a 1 inch hole in the 1/2 thick TI he managed to leave a little stub in the middle of the edge. I can't get bushings in without creasing them....

Let me know JC...

from what i understand the sparco side mounts mounted to sparco sliders (tracks) are the 16" width you need to bolt right into the 944.

what isnt fitting? I saw your other thread and it is what they experts told me should bolt right in. also the covered hole on the floor has a bolt under it. just grind the cover a little bit and the bolt appears.

sorry for the hijack.

How about some caster blocks with delrin inserts, and a delrin insert for the front of the A-Arm?

Delrin for the front of the A arm? What would the cost be?.... *ears perk up* Mine are getting to be worn out, same with my sway bar bushings....
If you can do these things cheaply, then perhaps sway bar bushings and rear control arm bushings and other goodies would be worth making.

If I was still into r/c cars I'd jump all over this, but my p-car is stealing all the attention/money these days. Can't think of anything I need currently...

Oh, I'm thinking of designing some sort of cover for fuse box and battery pit, so I may have an end piece or something for you to make at some point.

How about a better fuel rail and oilpan gasket retainers ala My Swiss? A cheaper set of camber plates would be cool also.
