I just went to a long interview at future shop and got the job (only temporary right now). anyways the boss asks me " so what do you drive?" and I say " an 85 porsche 944" and then he's like " so you mean a vw?" he was just joking around but it kind of pissed me off haha.

I was nervous at the interview so I didn't feel like correcting hime so I was like yeah I didn't buyt it for the mark I just like the car and he says " i know they are fun".

I'm guessing he was thinking 924.... or maybe he's one of those guys that thinks anything other than a 911 is a VW.

My dad is like that, he even told me once that the boxster was really a vw.....

one of the supervisors at my other job asked what I drive also and I said a 944 and he was like yeah those are pieces of crap..... I was like yeah pieces of crap...... he drives a grand am gt.

I'd rather buy a car associated with VW - who invented (with Audi) the best AWD system ever and invented the pocket rocket catagory with the GTI than sharing a badge with a Cavalier.

I love VW's just as much as my Porsche's. So saying a 944 is a VW is something to be proud of.

Well its not VW...911's are called glorified or rebodied VW's.

The 944 is always referred to as the "Audi".

yeah it's just ignorant people. That's totally true , you might aswell call the 911 the suped up vw beetle.

After I sold me 924 with the vw motor I was actually thinking of buying a mk2 16v gti or a vw corrado but then I ended up buying a 944 because I love the look of the car plus it's rear wheel drive unlike vws.

when you drive a "cheap" porsche a lot of people will want to bash it, usually people who just see porsche as some status symbol for rich people.

Agreed, people try to bash mine...then I just rev her up a bit and EVERYONE shuts up....its great. These cars have history and heritage which is something that their pos's will never posses. The 944/951 evolution from the design of the 928 was an extremely successful motor in racing, look up the stats of the 944 GTR in '86. Whatever its history its a bad *** car, it was proven on the track then approved for the street by the Porsche "gods"

if I get another porsche it will probably be a 951 or 928 but I'm a poor student so I can barely afford a 944 na.
