Yes, but you need a late AFM to go along with it (different voltage).

This is good news to here. The only thing I am worried about is tearing apart my AFM. Is there another car I could get the IAT sensor from?

You can buy an IAT (intake air temperature sensor) from a local parts store like autozone or napa or maybe kragen.

93-98 Nissan 240 SX is the best one I've found so far.

The Nissan sensor is pricey new. I'll look at junkyard sat for something else.

Will any IAT work or what?

I'm betting a different IAT sensor will be more accurate than the one that's in the AFM right now.

The resistance needs to be close at varying temps.
degrees----------ohms
175---------------600
65----------------2400
0------------------6000

You could get 5K ohm 1/4 watt potentiometer from Radio Shack to dial temp. High ohms to richen low to lean.
They're only couple bucks.

I'm just curious, did you do any changes to your DME in conjunction with this MAF? There's the ability to take a special tool and change the settings on the DME in 6 varying positions. Did you stick any tool to adjust the A/F settings at the DME?

No I didn't change anything. I played with that switch before and didn't see any timing or a/f changes. The timing retards to 24 dergees at WOT regardless of rpm. If you stomp it 1500 rpms it drops to 24 dergees and stays there. I'm using LM-1 wideband 02 to check a/f ratios.

Well I went out to the pick n pull today and spent about an hour trying to find one. There was only 1 ford escort '99 sport in the whole yard, and it didnt have an engine! But just for kicks I decided to look inside the car and what do you know, there's the MAF and intake setup sitting on the floorboard.

I was thinking about an intake design for it and thought that maybe the stock escort intake would work pretty well. So im going to try and find the intake section of it for as cheap as possible, the one the MAF was attached to was all beat up and cracked.

I'll try to get it running this weekend and see how my results compare to yours.

Is there any difference between the IAT sensors? I have one from a '96 ford contour and one from a '96 I think it was a taurus. If there is a big difference i'll pull the IAT from my spare junky AFM that I have in the garage.

Anything new done to your setup? Have any issues so far?

Also, I can just plug an '86 DME into my '83 connector correct? As long as I run a late AFM or a MAF?

What about the Aux air valve difference's? The early cars have a heated valve and the late cars have a type of sensor thats different. Will it still work?

Sorry for the long post

I just noticed that the ford escort '99 SOHC is a 4 wire design and the ford escort 99 DOHC ZX2 is a 6 wire design. Im going to see if the 2 extra wires can be ignored, because it should be wired the same. Can you give me the part number that's on the maf you have?
