Default 924 S project

Matt Romanowski, Tinman944 and myself are going to be looking to get some baby fat out of the car this winter. Also looking to get a little more HP out of her since she is a DAWG! Thinking about changing around the head a little and removing the cat. Any other ideas out there from people that wouldn't make my wife leave me?

ive heard something about jumping out something in the wiring, making the car run on ROW specs- no cat and more hp...not sure though. Talk to the spec racers- they usually know the cheap tricks...

Thanks Dan. I know we have a few tricks we are throwing around. I just wanted to get some ideas from some fellow Rennlister's who have been there and done that. Tinman944 is being very hush hush about what he has planned for the car.

Dumping the cat is about the only cheap trick I know. There is a particular set of headers which may prove powerfull. However it is all rumor right now. I'd love back to back dyno run of these vs stock.

Jay,
We need to have a plan of attack here.
You have seen some of the cars that I have done work on. Joel's car is a pretty good example of a car that goes very well and he still drives it on the street.
I did a lot of engine mods on it.
He did not go the route of any electical mods. he is still running stock ignition.
weight is a huge issue with these cars. there is a 300-400-lbs that is easy to get ride of..then it gets to a point where you start loosing the drivability on the street.

one cheap mod that adds a little power to the 924s is replacing the exhaust with a stock 944 unit. It adds 1/4-1/2" ID to the exhaust and frees up a couple horses. Not bad if you can find a decent used exhaust

For the US market the exhaust is the same for the 924S as it is for the 944.

Has anyone tried retarding the cam a little? What results did you get?

Also, besides taking the AC out, what other major weight things have people done?

I love it Bob. We will talk before I bring it up and we can go over the plan. I really want to be able to drive it on the road, but it doesn't need to be a daily driver. What did Joel do to his car? It goes well so I would like to hear the engine suggestions. I would also like to hear about the timing idea from Matty as well.

Lets do that to! We will have to talk about the $$$$$ however. As always I don't want to come home and find the locks changed. Will it still be reliable?

What would you think we could get it down to in weight and still keep it streetable? I say streetable because there is a big difference between streetable and streetlegal!
