Bad gas doesn't burn for ****. The hydrocarbon chains have changed into something that's isn't flamiable.

Is that so? How old is this gas? If it's not flammable something is dreadfully wrong with your fuel source. I've seen 2 year gas run fine in a lawnmower. Care to explain how it's no longer flammable?

60 days? I call BS. Are you sure there's not something else wrong with the car? I leave gas in an old van I drive only to get lumber...sometimes it sits over 4 months and starts everytime. I'm not trying to be argumentative but there's some pieces of this story missing...gas lasts longer than 2 months sorry.

I don't know. I work at autozone and was tlaking to the guys there and we looked on the back of several of the things of fuel stabilizer and that's what they say. I know several people that have cars and motorcycles that fuel goes bad in like the 3 months they sit over the winter.

Maybe I'll ask my anyalitical chem teacher tomorrow and we can go through it and see what contributes to the change.

Not to say you don't have a bad tank of gas but...... From time to time I start up my '84 944 to move it around the garage and the gas that is in that car was pumped in June of 2005 with no additives added.

If you are convinced your gas is bad, just drain 5 gallons at a time and give it to your friends for their mowers and such, that's what I did last time I had to drain a full tank. I put a fule safe plastic valve on the end of a hose that I attached to the fuel line and was able to turn the flow on and off to fill up different gas cans. And by the way, the last tank I drained was a 72 super beetle that had 12 year old gas in it, that gas ran great in my mower and weedwacker and none of my neighbors complained about the free gas I gave them.

Your car has problems other than the gas.

The gas in my Honda CRX sat in the car (outside) for several years until I sold it (I wasn't trying to sell it... someone asked about it, we agreed on a price). Jump started the battery and it fired right up.

Hmm. Then what's the big deal about gas going bad over the winter? I've had a tank go bad on my bike cause it sat all winter. That's a hell of a lot easier to drain. Well I am going to drain it tomorrow between classes.

Someone is trying to sell something?

Gas stabilizer is a good idea for storage, and gasoline does "go bad' - eventually - it'll gum things up if it goes bad enough, but fuel injector cleaner or carb cleaner generally clears it up when/if it gets that bad. However, I wouldn't expect it to get that bad sitting in a gas tank for 3-6 months, and it's still flammable at that point.

The gas in my lawn tractor and my 944 both sit in the tank for six months before the next lawn cutting/driving season, never had any problems with "old" gas (I was going to add fuel stabilizer to my 944 tank, just forgot last year)

But if I was worried about gas going bad... 20 gallons x $2.20 = $44, fuel stabilizer is... $8? or thereabouts?

You can always drain out half of the old gas, add in 10 gallons of new gas into your car and drive it... fill with new gas next fillup, let that go halfway down, then add the remainder of the old gas...
