Stabil is just mineral spirits. Not unlike some of the additives that gas companies use in their "recipies". I run a bottle of Techron in mine a couple of times a year. If you fill up at a Cheveron station it is already in their gas.

Stabil will help prevent gas from turning into turpentine as it sits.

I'm sure each state is different, but in PA there's major fines and hassle if you drop your insurance but keep the plate/registration...

i know my agent, so i can explain to him that the car is not to be used (IN MY OPINION) in the winter as it is a 'classic' car

Another thing that seems to work for me, just start the car up and put a block of wood on the gas pedal until the car is at 6500rpm's and just let her puuuur for about an hour or two. Make some coffee, come back out in the garage and listen to her run, bounce it off the rev limiter a couple times to spit that condensation out, turn her off and do the same thing again in a week until spring comes around.

I use a Schumacher battery tender, just take an extension cord and plug it in - keeps the batt charged at all times. (Shuts on/off as needed)

Nelson,One of the other thing to think about is mice.So I put about 6 boxes of Decon mouse poison around the garage and car,on the shock mounts and battery. It's real scarry when you open the hood and see a four legged family in there. Don't ask how i know.... FRED

Oh yah, definately get the Decon. Its not very fun to spend $130 on plug wires becasue a rat chews completely through one.

Regarding engine oil, i used to run 20w50 through late november and in NY winters, maybe a low of 0 degrees but an average of 15-20 degrees. 20w50 is a little much. My oil pressure would NEVER go below 4 bar even completley warmed up. Last year i switched back down to 10w40 and the car just seems overall much happier. It cranks over much easier and the oil pressure atleast warms up and goes down to about 3.5 bar.

My oil temp gauge used to not even register sometimes, it would barely get over 100 degrees after a reasonably long trip with the 20w50. Thats with the sender tapped into the drain plug.

I am not really looking foward to this winter. I have a feeling its going to be a bad one. But i think i say that every year. I atleast have some new all-seasons. I was going to spring for snow tires this winter but i ended up with some car complications (head gasket) that drained the budget pretty quick.

So I'll open the pandora's box of winter storage here:

Put it on Jackstands, or just pump up the tires real high to avoid flatspots? I should start a poll!

(Mine will be on stands since I have some winter work to do, but it has been stored on stands in the past with no noticable ill effects.) ((And I don't have stands for the bike and flatspots are much worse there!))

What I do in the "great white north"

1. Fuel stabilizer in the tank; since it's plastic ... only have 1/4 to 1/3 full tank.
2. Jack up the tire pressure to 38 PSI. Placing it on jack stands may cause body to twist and suspension to go bad. It needs to be pre loaded.
3. Drive car onto 2" thick styrofoam pieces (eliminates flat spots)
4. Leave the windows down the width or your small finger (hang a volcanic rock type air cleaner helps).
5. Remove battery and store it off the concrete floor. I charge up the battery once a month to keep it fresh.
6. Put on a car cover and car Ins. Co. to keep only fire & theft insurance on.
7. Dream of summer ..........

Of course YMMV ....
