Here's my winter routine.
I put fresh Mobile One in it usually around mid-to-late November. Give it a good wash and detailing. Disconnect the battery. Cover it. When it is nice enough outside to get a good 30-45 minute drive in (and the roads are dry and salt free), I take it out. Usually in Ohio we get 1 or 2 days a month that are that way. After the drive I allow it to cool down, disconnect the battery, and cover it again (after going over if with a duster).
Then in the spring, I change the oil out again for fresh Mobile One, and re-connect the battery for good until next winter.

Bit of extra air in the tires, fresh oil, stabalizer in the tank. DO NOT start it unless you plan on running it hard (out on the road) and getting it up to temp. A car cover is also a good idea.

We had a nice list of stuff to do for winter storage (I think) a year ago. Might be worth digging that up if it is still available.
As for oil - I would not use something as viscous as 20W-50 in the winter. A lighter oil will flow more easily and sooner when you do start the car. 10W-30 or even a 5W oil would be my suggestion.

Great advice! My 951 will be making the trip from Ottawa to Fredericton in aout 2.5 weeks, I'll be lucky if it dosen't snow before then, and get to drive it out east for a bit. First snow and she'll inside 'til the flowers come back.
Is there anything special I should do in addition to this? The car will be stored & covered in an unheated garage, temps can easily hit -40C.

I have had no issues ... other than separation anxiety .....
Car always starts up quickly and the fun begins again.
