Default Fuel safe teflon tape?

I remember a while back there was a post where people were discussing what they would use to wrap threaded connections that carried fuel, because it will eat through teflon tape. There was some chemical mentioned, but I don't remember what it was. Anyone know?

you should not need to use teflon tape as they are compression fittings and if the unions are not joining properly then you need to resolve the issure properly instead of sealing the threads...

Unless I am not using compression fittings, which happens to be the case.

I don't remember the chemical thing, but I picked up some yellow teflon tape at Lowes hardware that said "safe for gas" on it. I put it on my fuel filter and haven't had any problems with it. No leak and no funny running. Granted it was on the inlet side, so I'd be surprised if it got through the filter.

Thanks, I' going to go down to Lowes to see if I can find that tomorrow. You don't by any chance remember what department it was in, do you?

It was in the plumbing section. There is always the chance it ment natural gas rather then gasoline, but I could not find anything online confirming that.

Yes the "yellow tape is for natural gas..If the tape is put on correctly it should not be a problem with breaking down when in contact with gassoline. When you wrap any fitting,do not wrap over the leading edge of the fitting. Make sure the tape is only on the threads and all should be ok. Still the proper soultion is what Xboost said, correct the problem with the proper fittings. FRED

I've seen Rectorseal #7 used on fuel piping for pipe fittings at gas stations during construction.
