no signal?
Hello again,
I am suspecting that there may be no signal getting to the injectors due to a fault in the FI harness. I may be totally wrong, but, could you humor me and take ohmeter readings from the injector connectors? With battery disconnected, one side of the injectors will have continuity with all and the other side will have continuity between the 1 and 2 and the 3 and 4.

Well, uh.....
Please, Jim, keep that can of whoop *** sealed until you really need it!
;-)
Yes, relay arrived Jimbo, mine is fine! I'll get your's back to you one way or another.
Fuel rail has fuel, fuel in that rail.
Fault in FI harness, very possible - I'll try and remember to bring my meter home from work tonight (yup, I work Saturdays .... Mondays off though!).
Thank you all!

With the battery disconnected:
Cylinder one terminal one test:
Cylinder 2 terminal one = continuity / terminal two = 254.3
Cylinder 3 terminal one = continuity / terminal two = 254.3
Cylinder 4 terminal one = continuity / terminal two = 254.3
Cylinder one terminal two test:
Cylinder 2 terminal one = NO continuity / terminal two = continuity
Cylinder 3 terminal one = NO continuity / terminal two = continuity
Cylinder 4 terminal one = NO continuity / terminal two = continuity
So - what does this tell us ....

Scott was kind enough to meet me at KCI this morning and loan me the DME from his race car.
Installed it, car fired right up!
Took a short drive, informed Scott and obtained permission to drive a little on his brains, and so far everything seems to be in order.
I would say more, but I need to go do some more "testing" -
THANKS SCOTT AND RENNLISTERS!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Try here for a rebuilt:
http://www.partsamerica.com/ProductL...ngine+Computer
If the link doesn't work, go to partsamerica.com, enter the vehicle info and look for the engine computer under ignition and tune up.
I don't know the difference between the units; I'm sure they're rebuilds, but at $200, the price isn't too bad.
Another place to try is some of the dismantlers - George B at 944ecology.com or DC automotive might be able to hook you up.

Scored one on eBay for $163.00 delivered - The seller has100% positive feedback and it "feels good".
If it fails, I'll head to Advance Auto -
Also, will try and repair old one.
Thanks everyone!

Well, that was short lived . . . .
Took the car to work today.
On the way home for lunch, I pulled onto the highway, gave it about 1/2 throttle and it died.
Dead, no start, no want to run, no nothing.
Walked back to work, called for a tow.
Walked back to the car, checked fuses, nothing burned out.
Tried to start, no start, cranked, no something.
Looked under hood, say nothing out of whack.
Closed hood, gave it one more try - it started.
Drove back to work, called and cancelled tow.
Borrows a tech's cell phone, drove home.
Any ideas?

I'm curious as well, my car starts most of the time normally. But sometimes it will just crank and not even try to start. If i try a few times it generally fires, but i must turn the key off and on again.

I bet I replace more parts . . . .
No driving it any more until my DME arrives - bothered me a lot thinking I ruined Scott's DME.
What is a 83 944 in really nice condition worth these days?
I need to list all the new parts - extensive it not the word . . . .
