I have my dyno appt. tomorrow @ 8 am. I'll be dynoing the car with the stock chip, 944S MAX chip and then also stock chip with SFR SS exhaust and 944S MAX chip with SFR exhaust. I get 4 runs, i might as well take advantage of all 4, right? LOL.

My reasoning behind doing the runs this way is to show gains for the chip, the exhaust, and the exhaust and chip. some people might like to know the gains of an SFR exhaust, some people might like to know the gains of the chip and the exhaust. also, for people planning to possibly get this chip and already have/are planning to get the exhaust, Russell can make the chip to work hand in hand with the exhaust.

I received what should be the final version of the 944SMAX chip this evening. I took it out for a run, and can tell immediately this isawesome. The low-end response is amazing. Doing quick 0-45mph runs from stop light to stop light was actually fun, instead of a chore. I'm excited to see the results with the new chip on the dyno. Hopefully i will have full results for everyone by tomorrow afternoon.

I just swapped out my early AFM/DME for an 87 setup. Runs better too.

Jesse went back to the dyno today, he'll be sending me the sheets tonight. Based on that info I need to make one correction in the 3K rpm range that the seat-o-meter didn't show that the dyno did. That's why we use dynos. Anyway we made 6.6HP over stock. That coupled with the overall performance enhancements of smoother running, broader torque curve, and snappy response I feel confident we've achieved another good product.

Will post chart when he sends it to me tonight...

Regards,
Russell

yes, Russell is correct. One minor adjustment needs to be made to have basically a perfect chip. The adjustment may even bring 1-2WHP more and definitely a bit more TQ. Dyno sheets will be posted tonight when I get home. Just to let you know where we were trying to make changes, was the dips in the mid 3000s and early 4000s. The 4000 range has been corrected to make more power than stock, but we still need to work out the kinks in the mid 3000s. Overrall, this chip is much better than stock.

Default 944SMAX is shipping

Okay, the 944SMAX chip is shipping in its final version. Jesse is going to the dyno tomorrow with this version and we'll post the chart as soon as we get it. Probably by 3pm Wednesday. Again, retail price 175.00 USD, Rennlist price through November 30th will be 150.00.

The S2MAX and NA chips are in beta testing now. I have testers for the 85.5-88NA and the S2. What I still need is a beta tester for a 2.7L '89 NA. These chips will be priced the same as the SMAX chip that is shipping now.

The 951MAX promotion ends October 31, after that retail price is 249.00 USD.

Anyone with a late 2.7L NA willing to participate in the beta testing please PM me, or email me directly at RBerry951@maxhpkit.com. Or call 877-558-9507.

Thanks again, you guys have been an big help!

Regards,
Russell

What, if any, gains are you expecting for the 88 n/a chip?

The 8v NA chips? To start with the first thing I work on as with the 944S chip we did is overall drivability. I make it more responsive and smoother so the car 'feels' better and is more enjoyable to drive. Then I focus on stretching out the power band so you have torque earlier and longer. Finally in the final stage I use data collected in the former stages to try to squeeze some more actual HP out of it. We expect to see a gain of 8-10HP in tomorrow's dyno of the 944S chip tomorrow. The 8V 2.5L NA cars I would expect to achieve 6-8HP overall gain. But again, peak numbers aren't the main goal. Just as the guys who have spoken about the 951MAX chip keep saying, their cars 'drive' much better than before. I found in the early stage of the 944S chip that we made 4HP 'accidently'. Just making the car smoother without trying to achieve more HP, we got more HP as a side effect. I use more than just the dyno numbers to tune, I listen to what the tester tells me about every aspect of driving the car, what they complain about, and what they feel could be made better. It's a tedious process but well worth it in the long run.

Regards,
Russell

Just installed the Max chip in my 87 944S, and went for a quick drive on the highway. The butt dyno tells me that overall driveability is definitely improved, the car just pulls with no hesitation through the gears. I would definitely recommend this to other S owners. Great bang for the buck.
