For some reason PET (the version I have) does not show a separate quarter window seal for the 968, which is possibly why Sunset couldnt find them. Unless the seal is integral with the window(?) 944 543 011(2) 00.

PET shows 477 557 321(2) 00 for the glass, 944 557 321(2) 00 for the seal on '91 S2s, which is the same quarter window and seal as any other 944 going all the way back to '83: Those seals will not fit the 968 window.

I'm fairly certain 968 body is completely different than the 944 shell in regards to the rear quarter windows. I don't think there is anyway to interchange the seals and/or windows. I could be wrong though...............

The 968 inner tub/shell and the rear quarter panel are cut/formed differently for the updated quarter window shape.

To convert an existing 944 tub, you would need 968 quarter panels (which would require updating the entire rear end to the 968 look/parts. I suppose some hot rod building shop, that does a lot of tin work, could modify the 944 quarter panels to fit the 968 windows, but it would be a major effort.

I have never seen nor heard of any S2 with a factory made 968 rear quarter window configuration. If one exists, it would be a very rare bird. Have any pictures of it?

The 944S2 in your avatar does not have 968 rear quarter windows.

Neither has any other 944/951/S2 that I have seen.

Here's some rather large images, but they'll show that the shape/design of the quarter windows are definatly different. Primarily the bottom edge - the bottom on the 944 slopes up at a much higher angle than the 968 windows, so they won't fit the 944 body work without switch out the entire rear end like Oddjob said. (I also wanted to do this till I figure this all out)

Yes, I've always understood that they are completely different- I DO remember an article from European car, years ago, about a marroon 1989 951 w/a bunch of unique mods & near the end, the owner was talking about doing this conversion- I mentioned it here, years ago, & was quickly told that it was near impossible & probably never materialized & since I never saw an update of any kind, I assume they're right- I tried contacting the references in the article, as there were several mods I was wanting to know more about, but it had been long enough that there was no way- the article was from 1997 or so I think & this was 2002 or 2003... From Bill's pics here, it appears that the 968 doesn't have an outer seal...? The bottom section looks like it's only tinted glass...? Does anyone have any more close-up pics of the 968's so I can see the differences up-close? Maybe some interior shots too...?
